Sinharaja virgin rain forest

Literally translates in to "lion king " Sinharaja virgin rain forest has no lions though apparently, yet it is a magnificent creation of the nature situated in Sabaragamuwa province of Sri Lanka which is a UNESCO world heritage site. Extremely high in biodiversity one can witness an abundant of wild life including mammals , snakes , butterflies, birds & insects while there are some Elephants too roaming the jungle. It is reported that over 60% of the species & plants found here are endemic to Sri Lanka. Typical to an ever green rain forest there are many waterfalls & streams can be found throughout the forest that is an absolute feast to the eye. There are guides available ready at the entrance to the forest who will hike with you & load you with information on anything you wish to have a interest in. A ticket has to be bought to enter yet it is very cheap. There are well built roads to access the entrance so your ride won't be bumpy till you start the hike. Green paradise of Wilpattu national park

Lush greenery, vast bodies of water & wildlife is my idea of paradise ! Spanning between North Western & North Central provinces of Sri Lanka spreaded over a whopping 1316.671 square Kms Wilpattu national park ticks all the boxes. While it is most popular for the magnificent leopards roaming the forest in it's own amenable style majestic elephants roams the forest in herds while sloth bears hunt solo. A couple of varieties of monkeys shows off their playful tree to tree jumping skills while some do hanging acrobatic movements on high branches of giant trees.
